If you enjoy baking or making desserts, I know you must have come across a recipe that needs condensed milk. Now, this milk is not difficult to procure but someone who doesn’t know what it is will first quarrel with the recipe, if they were the dramatic sort (like why did you choose this milk and not powdered milk) or consult the ever-faithful Aunt Google. Today, I will tell you a little about condensed milk and how you can make it at home with powdered milk.

Condensed milk is cow’s milk that has been thickened by evaporation and sweetened with forty to forty-five percent sugar. It is also called sweetened condensed milk. It is rich, thick and has a caramel colour.
It is commonly used in baked goods and desserts like ice cream, milo snack balls, chin chin. Condensed milk is easy to make at home. The ingredients are few and there is nothing complicated about the process of making it.

How To Prepare
Boil water till it starts bubbling a little. Pour the boiled water into the blender. Also add the powdered milk, sugar, melted butter into the blender and blend till all the ingredients are well incorporated. Now, pour the blended mixture into an airtight container of choice. Leave it to cool completely. Cover it and store it in the fridge. Use it in recipes that call for condensed milk.
Unrefrigerated, your homemade condensed milk will last for a day or two because of the sugar. If it’s refrigerated and the power supply is constant, it can last for about two weeks. But if you want it to last for a much longer time, then, you just have to freeze it.
